Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law

“God hath laid upon him the iniquity of us all.” For as thy blood is mingled in the cup of BABALON, so is thine heart the universal heart. Yet is it bound about with the Green Serpent, the Serpent of Delight.

“It is shown me that this heart is the heart that rejoiceth, and the serpent is the serpent of Daath, for herein all the symbols are inter changeable, for each one containeth in itself its own opposite. And this is the great Mystery of the Supernals that are beyond the Abyss. For below the Abyss, contradiction is division; but above the Abyss, contradiction is Unity. And there could be nothing true except by virtue of the contradiction that is contained in itself.’’

The Arrow
[From The Vision and the Voice, 5th Aethyr]

The first day of this month marked the Greater Feast of the Prophet of the Lovely Star. The Sun is in Sagittarius and remains there until the 21st of the month before passing into Capricorn on the Solstice, the day of December 21st. The Atu that refers to Sagittarius is Atu XIV, Art. Our Master Therion writes on the matter;

”This card is the complement and the fulfillment of Atu VI, Gemini. It pertains to Sagittarius, the opposite to Gemini in the Zodiac, and therefore, ‘after another manner’, one with it. Sagittarius means the Archer; and the card is (in its simplest and most primitive form) a picture of Diana the Huntress.”

and goes on to say;

” This card represents the Consummation of the Royal Marriage which took place in Atu VI. The black and white personages are now united in a single androgyne figure. Even the Bees and the Serpents on their robes have made an alliance. The Red Lion has become white, and increased in size and importance, while the White Eagle, similarly expanded, has become red. He has exchanged his red blood for her white gluten.

”In this card, therefore, is foreshadowed the final stage of the Great Work. Behind the figure, its edges tinged with the rainbow, which has now arisen from the twin rainbows forming the cape of the figure, is a glory bearing an inscription,

“VISITA INTERIORA TERRAE RECTIFICANDO INVENIES OCCULTUM LAPIDEM.”

December, thou whose hallowing hands
On shuddering seas and hardening lands
Set as a sacramental sign
The seal of Christmas felt on earth
As witness toward a new year’s birth
Whose promise makes thy death divine,
The crowning joy that comes of thee
Makes glad all grief on land or sea.

Algernon Charles Swinburne – December

November 2018 e.v. Bulletin

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law

“The serpent is sacred, Lord of Life and Death, and its method of progression suggests the rhythmical undulation of those twin phases of life which we Call respectively life and death.

”With the sweep of his scythe he creates bubbles in which are beginning to take shape the new forms which he creates in his dance; and these forms dance also.’’

Death XIII The Book of Thoth

The Sun is in Scorpio and remains there until the 21st of the month before passing into Sagittarius on 22nd. The Atu that refers to Scorpio is Atu XIII, Death. The principal planetary attributions of the card are Saturn and Mercury. The legs of Osiris in Atu XIII convey the glyph of Saturn and the fish connects with the function of Mercury as the psychpomp, the guide of the dead, and “as the continuing elastic element in nature.”

Come, for the dusk is our own; let us fare forth together,
With a quiet delight in our hearts for the ripe, still, autumn weather,
Through the rustling valley and wood and over the crisping meadow,
Under a high-sprung sky, winnowed of mist and shadow.

Sharp is the frosty air, and through the far hill-gaps showing
Lucent sunset lakes of crocus and green are glowing;
‘Tis the hour to walk at will in a wayward, unfettered roaming,
Caring for naught save the charm, elusive and swift, of the gloaming.

Watchful and stirless the fields as if not unkindly holding
Harvested joys in their clasp, and to their broad bosoms folding
Baby hopes of a Spring, trusted to motherly keeping,
Thus to be cherished and happed through the long months of their sleeping.

Silent the woods are and gray; but the firs than ever are greener,
Nipped by the frost till the tang of their loosened balsam is keener;
And one little wind in their boughs, eerily swaying and swinging,
Very soft and low, like a wandering minstrel is singing.

Beautiful is the year, but not as the springlike maiden
Garlanded with her hopesrather the woman laden
With wealth of joy and grief, worthily won through living,
Wearing her sorrow now like a garment of praise and thanksgiving.

Gently the dark comes down over the wild, fair places,
The whispering glens in the hills, the open, starry spaces;
Rich with the gifts of the night, sated with questing and dreaming,
We turn to the dearest of paths where the star of the homelight is gleaming.

Lucy Maud Montgomery – November Evening

The Master Therion divides the interpretation of this Atu in to three parts represented by the Scorpion, the Serpent and the Eagle. He explains and expounds on this symbolism in Chapter 157 of Liber Aleph:

“Threefold is the Nature of Love: Eagle, Serpent, and Scorpion. And of these the Scorpion is he that, having no Lion of Light and Courage within him, seemeth to himself encircled by Fire, and, driving his Sting into himself, he dieth. Such are the Black Brothers, that cry: I am I; they that deny Love, restricting it to their own Nature. But the Serpent is the Secret Nature of Man, that is Life and Death, and maketh his Way through the Generations in Silence. And the Eagle is that Might of Love which is the Key of Magick, uplifting the Body and its Appurtenance unto High Ecstasy upon his Wings. It is by Virtue thereof that the Sphinx beholdeth the Sun unwinking, and confronteth the Pyramid without Shame.”

These words are uttered by the Magister Templi as he emerges from the Tomb in the seasonal Thelemic Cross Quarter ritual known as the Feast of the Dragon. These three forms of Scorpio  can be seen as representing three expressions of Love: Love unexpressed, Love’s physical expression and the etheric, energetic expression of Love. Also In Liber Aleph, a fourth form of Scorpio is revealed, the Dragon, which replaces the Eagle:

“Our Dragon, therefore, combining the Natures of the Eagle and the Serpent, is our Love, the Organon of our Will, by whose Virtue we perform the Work and Miracle of the One Substance, as saith thine Ancestor Hermes Trismegistus, in his Tablet of Smaragda. And this Dragon is called thy Silence, because in the Hour of his Operation that within thee which saith ‘I’ is abolished in Conjunction with the Beloved.”

In his essay Scorpio and the Love Dragon, Michael Osiris Snuffin comments:

“The Dragon is a winged serpent, a composite symbol of the physical and etheric expressions of Love. The precedent for this synthesis of the physical and spiritual is given in the first verse of Emerald Tablet of Hermes Tristmegistus:

“It is true and no lie, certain, and to be depended upon, that the superior agrees with the inferior, and the inferior with the superior, to effect that one truly wonderful work.”

“By changing the kerubic symbol, Crowley has changed the principal expression of Love from a spiritual bias to a synthesis and balance of its spiritual and physical expressions. Like the Son of the Tetragrammaton, the Dragon is the product and the union of the natures of both its parents, the feminine Eagle and the masculine Serpent. Thus is the Dragon the new and complete symbol of Kerubic Scorpio in the Aeon of Horus.”

Love is the law, love under will

October 2018 e.v. Bulletin

Do What Thou Wilt Shall be the Whole of the Law

The Woman Satisfied. From the cloak of the vivid wantonness of her dancing wings issue her hands; they hold the hilt of the Phallic sword of the magician. She holds the blade between her thighs. This is again a hieroglyph of “Love is the law, love under will”.

Every form of energy must be directed, must be applied with integrity, to the full satisfaction of its destiny.

Adjustment VII The Book of Thoth

The Equniox has now passed and once again we welcome the coming of the dark season with the balancing sign of Libra, where Sol remains until 23rd October before Scorpio takes the reins.

October is the treasurer of the year,
And all the months pay bounty to her store;
The fields and orchards still their tribute bear,
And fill her brimming coffers more and more.
But she, with youthful lavishness,
Spends all her wealth in gaudy dress,
And decks herself in garments bold
Of scarlet, purple, red, and gold.
She heedeth not how swift the hours fly,
But smiles and sings her happy life along;
She only sees above a shining sky;
She only hears the breezes’ voice in song.
Her garments trail the woodlands through,
And gather pearls of early dew
That sparkle, till the roguish Sun
Creeps up and steals them every one.
But what cares she that jewels should be lost,
When all of Nature’s bounteous wealth is hers?
Though princely fortunes may have been their cost,
Not one regret her calm demeanor stirs.
Whole-hearted, happy, careless, free,
She lives her life out joyously,
Nor cares when Frost stalks o’er her way
And turns her auburn locks to gray.

Paul Laurence Dunbar, ‘October’.

Adjustment is the Atu of the Book of Thoth that represents the sign of Libra, ruled by Venus and in which Saturn is exalted. The Master Therion has written there that in this Atu:

…the equilibrium of all things is hereby symbolised. It is the final adjustment in the formula of Tetragrammaton, when the daughter, redeemed by her marriage with the Son, is thereby set up on the throne of the mother; thus, finally, she ‘awakens the Eld of the All-Father’.

Image result for wiki commons the goddess Maat

The Goddess here is Maat, bearing upon her nemyss the ostrich feathers of the Twofold Truth:

This woman-goddess is Harlequin; she is the partner and fulfilment of The Fool. She is the ultimate illusion which is manifestation; she is the dance, many-coloured, many-wiled, of Life itself. Constantly whirling, all possibilities are enjoyed, under the phantom show of Space and Time: all things are real, the soul is the surface, precisely because they are instantly compensated by this Adjustment. All things are harmony and beauty; all things are Truth: because they cancel out.

Balance against each thought its exact opposite. For the Marriage of these is the Annihilation of Illusion.

Love is the law, love under will

September 2018 e.v. Bulletin

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law

Greetings as we enter the month of the Autumn Equinox! On 23rd August, the Sun entered Virgo, an earthy sign, referred especially to corn, and Luna is waning into Third Quarter tomorrow. The New Moon is on the 9th. The Equinox takes place on the 23rd of this month, the day after the Sun moves on into Libra.

We are again at time of the harvest, a ‘gathering in’ before the darkness, chill, chaos and revelry of winter begin. Next month ends with the Hallows, the Day of the Dead and the symbolic journey into the underworld. It is the season of the pomegranate in the northern hemisphere, a time recalling the myth of Persephone. Mercury both rules and is exalted in Virgo and:

“Concealed within Mercury is a light which pervades all parts of the Universe equally; one of his titles is Psychopompos, the guide of the soul through the lower regions. These symbols are indicated by his Serpent Wand, which is actually growing out of the Abyss, and is the spermatozoon developed as a poison, and manifesting the foetus. Following him is Cerberus, the three-headed Hound of Hell whom he has tamed.” In Atu IX, The Hermit, “…is shewn the entire mystery of Life in its most secret workings. Yod – Phallus – Spermatozoon – Hand – Logos – Virgin. There is perfect Identity, not merely Equivalence, of the Extremes, the Manifestation, and the Method.”

The Book of Thoth

Perhaps this month could be an ideal time for reflection, retreat from the outside world, a magical retirement, pilgrimage or and solitary pursuits, returning to nature and the ground of being. Whether in retreat or amidst the throng of everyday life, subjectively a time for stillness, taking care of the inner self, listening to the inner voice, self-reflection and self-realisation, yet brightly radiating the Inner Light. Meditation and absorption in the Wisdom of both the Father, the highest form of Mercury, and the High Priestess, as Luna wanes towards the dark of the Moon. The general character in use of The Hermit, is poetically described as follows:

“Wander alone; bearing the Light and thy Staff.
And be the Light so bright that no man seeth thee.
Be not moved by aught without or within:
keep Silence in all ways.”

Love is the law, love under will

August 2018 e.v. Bulletin

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law

In many European countries, August is the traditional summer holiday month. It is the time of Lammas, the first harvest festival of the year, the half-way point between the Summer Solstice and the Autumn Equinox and looking forward to both the Feast of the Lion Serpent, a Thelemic ritual celebration of the astrological cross-quarter and the following Feast for the First Night of the Prophet and His Bride in the Thelemic calendar.

The Sun is now in 10° Leo, the sign of its rulership, at the beginning of the second Decan of the sign and the moon waning, close to Third Quarter following last Friday’s significant eclipse at Full with Mars in retrograde. This Decan of Leo is associated with the Six of Wands, Victory in the Thoth Tarot, representing Tiphareth in the suit of Fire, also referencing Jupiter and Leo. In this card, the Wands of the Adepts together with flames burning steadily in lamps, nine in number, signifying Yesod and Luna, Energy is represented as stabilised in reception and reflection by the Feminine. It is described as a card that …shows Energy in completely balanced manifestation.” In divinatory terms, well dignified or aspected, it can signify victory after strife, love and the pleasure gained from labour.

In the Major Arcana, Atu XI, Lust, is assigned to the sign of Leo, seen as the most powerful of the twelve Zodiacal cards, representing what the Master Therion regarded as the “most critical of all the operations of magick and alchemy.” The main subject of the card is said to refer to “the most ancient collection of legends or fables.” It is suggested that we should further study the card via the close examination of Liber XV, the text of the Celebration of the Gnostic Mass and Waratah-Blossoms in the Book of Lies is the chapter devoted to the central symbol of the card:

49

ΚΕΦΑΛΗ ΜΘ

WARATAH-BLOSSOMS

“Seven are the veils of the dancing-girl in the harem of IT. Seven are the names, and seven are the lamps beside Her bed. Seven eunuchs guard Her with drawn swords; No Man may come nigh unto Her. In Her wine-cup are seven streams of the blood of the Seven Spirits of God. Seven are the heads of THE BEAST whereon She rideth. The head of an Angel: the head of a Saint: the head of a Poet: the head of An Adulterous Woman: the head of a Man of Valour: the head of a Satyr: and the head of a Lion-Serpent. Seven letters hath Her holiest name; and it is

“This is the Seal upon the Ring that is on the Forefinger of IT: and it is the Seal upon the Tombs of them whom She hath slain. Here is Wisdom. Let Him that hath Understanding count the Number of Our Lady; for it is the Number of a Woman; and Her Number is An Hundred and Fifty and Six.”
As we have seen before The Vision and the Voice contains the seeds of the Atu of the Book of Thoth and is the source of some of the central spiritual doctrines of Thelema as revealed in the sublime visions of Babalon. It is there that we are referred for a further description of this central symbol of Atu XI, perhaps particularly in the vision of the Twelfth Aethyr.

Love is the law, love under will

July 2018 e.v. Bulletin

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law

The Solstice has passed, the days now slowly become shorter and the nights longer. Today, Sol is in 9º Cancer and Luna is approaching Third Quarter waning in 17º Aquarius, with the New Moon due on 13 July. Atu VII of the Thoth Tarot refers to the Zodiacal sign of Cancer, the cardinal sign of the element of Water. Jupiter is exalted in Cancer, and Cancer ruled by Luna. The central and most important feature of the card is the Holy Grail at its centre:

“It is of pure amethyst, of the colour of Jupiter, but its shape suggests the full moon and the Great Sea of Binah. In the centre is radiant blood; the spiritual life is inferred; light in the darkness. These rays, moreover, revolve, emphasising the Jupiterian element in the symbol.”

From tomorrow until 11 July, the Decan of 10º to 20º Cancer is assigned in the small cards of the Thoth deck to Abundance, the Three of Cups, and the planet Mercury. Thus, this is the card that refers to the influence of Mercury in Cancer; the card of Demeter or Persephone attributed to Binah in Cups, the suit of Water:

“There is here the fulfilment of the Will of Love in abounding joy.”

Persephone ate the fruit of the pomegranate in the realms of Pluto and enabled him to hold her in the lower realms against most powerful influences. The Master Therion points out that the lesson to be taken from this story:

“…seems to be that the good things of life, although enjoyed, should be distrusted.”

Quotations from The Book of Thoth

This lesson highlights the realisation of the suffering of change that, when reflected and meditated upon, can act as a spur to remember and pursue the spiritual life and the completion of the Great Work. The suffering of change is that which is pleasant when arising, pleasant when remaining, but painful when ceasing. No matter where we find ourselves and no matter how seemingly pleasurable and attractive our situation in life, our existence, body or sensory enjoyments, because of the ubiquity and ineluctable consequences of impermanence, things cannot ever possibly remain as they are. In ceaseless change, what was previously a pleasurable experience becomes a source of suffering in the turning of Fortuna’s Wheel.

Let us seek the Grail and the Centre of the Wheel!

“Feeling, and thought, and ecstasy
Are but the cerements of Me.
Thrown off like planets from the Sun
Ye are but satellites of the One.
But should your revolution stop
Ye would inevitably drop
Headlong within the central Soul,
And all the parts become the Whole.
Sloth and activity and peace,
When will ye learn that ye must cease?”

From The Rite of Jupiter, in The Rites of Eleusis by Aleister Crowley

Wheel And — Whoa!

The Great Wheel of Samsara.

The Wheel of the Law. (Dhamma.)

The Wheel of the Taro.

The Wheel of the Heavens.

The Wheel of Life.

All these Wheels be one; yet of all these the Wheel of the TARO alone avails thee consciously.

Meditate long and broad and deep, O man, upon this Wheel, revolving it in thy mind!

Be this thy task, to see how each card springs necessarily from each other card, even in due order from The Fool unto The Ten of Coins.

Then, when thou know’st the Wheel of Destiny complete, may’st thou perceive THAT Will which moved it first. [There is no first or last.]

And lo! thou art past through the Abyss.”

Love is the law, love under will

June 2018 e.v. Bulletin

Do what thou wilt is the whole of the Law

The Sun is in Gemini, Luna waning to third quarter in Capricorn. The seventh of this month is the Feast of the Gnostic Saint Carl Kellner, in many ways the spiritual father or our Order. He was a student of Freemasonry, Rosicrucianism and Eastern mysticism, and travelled extensively in Europe, America and Asia Minor. During his travels, he claimed to have come into contact with the the Hermetic Brotherhood of Light and three eastern Adepts, a Sufi, Soliman ben Aifa, and two Hindu Tantrics, Bhima Sena Pratapa of Lahore and Sri Mahatma Agamya Paramahamsa. These adepts are attributed with having initiated Kellner into the use of sexual yogas in magick.

Saint Carl believed that he had discovered a key that offered a clear explanation of all the complex symbolism of Freemasonry, and opened the mysteries of Nature. He developed a desire to form an Academia Masonica which would enable all Freemasons to become familiar with all existing Masonic degrees and systems and decided that the Academia Masonica should be called Ordo Templi Orientis. His vision was of an occult inner circle of this order being organised parallel to the highest degrees of the Rite of Memphis-Misraim, teaching the esoteric Rosicrucian doctrines of the Hermetic Brotherhood of Light and the key he thought he had discovered to all Masonic symbolism. Both men and women would be admitted at all levels to this order.

This month is also the month of the Summer Solstice. The Sun remains in Gemini until the day of the solstice itself on the 21st. Gemini is ruled by Mercury and Atu VI, The Lovers – or: The Brothers – refers to Gemini. In the Book of Thoth, The Master Therion explains the sign of the twins as the story of Cain. Atus VI & XIV, are seen themselves as twins with each of the symbols in itself double and regarded by him as:

“..the most obscure and difficult of the Atu.” See especially the earlier description of Atu VI “..in its more primitive form..”

Liber 418 The Vision and the Voice, The Cry of the 2nd Aethyr, which is called ARN.

The key of Atu VI is seen to be that it represents the Creation of the World. In this dualism, the material world is seen as a reflection and the sign of Gemini as expanding on that dualism.

A few days after the solstice and the entry of Sol into the sign of Cancer, the 24th of the month is the Feast of St. John. In masonic symbolism, there is also the pairing of the two Johns, the baptist and the evangelist. In the interlocked six-pointed star in a form like the Golden Dawn Hexagram of Nature, St John the Baptist is represented by the inverted triangle pointing downward, the alchemical sign of water, symbolising emotional love ruled by the moon and St. John the Evangelist, whose feast celebrated on 27 December, a few days after Sol enters Capricorn and the winter solstice, is represented by the upward pointing triangle symbolising fire, the drive and will of action. When brought together, they symbolise the perfect balance of darkness and light, life and death, passion and constraint, will and emotion, summer and winter, Cancer and Capricorn.

In the Thelemic Holy Hexagram, the water and fire symbolism is reversed relative to the Hexagram of Nature:

“…the Red Triangle is the descending tongue of grace; the Blue Triangle is the ascending tongue of prayer.”

The Book of Lies, Chapter 69.

In his commentary on this Chapter, Crowley writes:

“This chapter alludes to Levi’s drawing of the Hexagram, and is a criticism of, or improvement upon, it. In the ordinary Hexagram, the Hexagram of Nature, the red triangle is upwards, like fire, and the blue triangle downwards, like water. In the magical hexagram this is reversed; the descending red triangle is that of Horus, a sign specially revealed by him personally, at the Equinox of the Gods. (it is the flame descending upon the altar, licking up the offering.) The blue triangle represents the aspiration, since blue is the colour of devotion, and the triangle, kinetically considered, is the symbol of directed force.”

Love is the law, love under will

May 2018 e.v. Bulletin

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

Sol is Taurus and Luna is waning in Sagittarius, just after full.

The Feast of Cattle, where Osiris is the pertinent godform, has been celebrated. It is the month of Beltane fires and the festival of Floralia. The Hierophant is the card referred to Taurus in the Thoth Tarot. Before the figure of the Hierophant is a woman girt with a sword, representing the Scarlet Woman.

May 23rd is the anniversary of the Apparition of the Daughter of Fortitude, Edward Kelly’s vision pertaining to Our Lady Babalon, recevied whilst scrying in the seventh Aethyr of DEO on that day, 413 years ago in 1587 e.v.

Dee’s journal for Saturday, May 23, 1587 e.v. records:

“Here cometh another woman: All her attire is like beaten gold; she hath on her forehead a Cross chrystal, her neck and breast are bare unto under her dugs: She hath a girdle of beaten gold slackly buckled unto her with a pendant of gold down to the ground.”

“I am the daughter of Fortitude, and ravished every hour, from my youth. For behold, I am Understanding, and Science dwelleth in me; and the heavens oppress me. They covet and desire me with infinite appetite; few or none that are earthly have embraced me, for I am shadowed with the Circle of the Stone, and covered with the morning Clouds. My feet are swifter than the winds, and my hands are sweeter than the morning dew. My garments are from the beginning, and my dwelling place is in my self. The Lion knoweth not where I walk, neither do the beasts of the field understand me. I am deflowered, and yet a virgin; I sanctify, and am not sanctified. Happy is he that embraceth me: for in the night season I am sweet, and in the day full of pleasure. My company is a harmony of many Cymbals, and my lips sweeter than health itself. I am a harlot for such as ravish me, and a virgin with such as know me not: For Lo, I am loved of many, and I am a lover to many; and as many as come unto me as they should do, have entertainment. Purge your streets, O ye sons of men, and wash your houses clean; make yourselves holy, and put on righteousness. Cast out your old strumpets, and burn their clothes; abstain from the company of other women that are defiled, that are sluttish, and not so handsome and beautiful as I, and then will I come and dwell amongst you: and behold, I will bring forth children unto you, and they shall be the sons of Comfort. I will open my garments, and stand naked before you, that your love may be more enflamed toward me. As yet, I walk in the clouds; as yet, I am carried with the winds, and cannot descend unto you for the multitude of your abominations, and the filthy loathsomeness of your dwelling places.”

Crowley considered Kelly to be one of his previous incarnations: see Chapters 73 and 187 of Liber Aleph and Part III of The Heart of the Master.

The Vision and the Voice, Liber 418 is a record of Crowley’s use of the Thirty Aethyrs of the Enochian system of magic, channelled through Dee and Kelley, to explore some of the most subtle planes of magickal and mystical experience. The Vision and the Voice is the source of some of the central spiritual doctrines of Thelema as revealed in the visions of Babalon. The sublime visions that resulted were the culmination of Crowley’s initiation into the grade of Magister Templi. These visions also contain the seeds of the Atu of the Book of Thoth.

The enigmatic Gnostic text Thunder Perfect Mind has strong resonances with the voices of Madimi and Babalon that appeared to Dee and Kelly. Thunder Perfect Mind is an exhortatory poem, written well before 350 e.v., but not discovered among the Gnostic manuscripts at Nag Hammadi until 1945 e.v. It also resonates strongly with the voice of Nuit in Chapter One of Liber AL vel Legis.

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

This month’s forthcoming Feast for the Three Days of the Writing of the Book of the Law marks the 114th anniversary of the reception of Liber AL vel Legis: The Book of the Law and concludes the Thelemic Holy Season for this year, which began at the Vernal Equinox on 20 March.

The Book of the Law was received by Aleister Crowley, one chapter per day from the 8 to10 April 1904, between the hours of noon and 1:00 pm. As he sat at his desk in Cairo, the voice of Aiwass, the messenger of Horus, came from over his left shoulder.

The first chapter is from Nuit, the Egyptian goddess of the night sky, called the Queen of Space. Crowley called her the:

“Lady of the Starry Heaven, who is also Matter in its deepest metaphysical sense, who is the infinite in whom all we live and move and have our being.”

The second is from Hadit, who refers to himself as the “complement of Nu,” his bride. As such, he is the infinitely condensed point, the centre of her infinite circumference:

“He is eternal energy, the Infinite Motion of Things, the central core of all being.”

The third is from Ra-Hoor-Khuit, “a god of War and of Vengeance”, also identified as Hoor-paar-kraat, the Crowned and Conquering Child:

“…we have Nuit, Space, Hadit, the point of view; these experience congress, and so produce Heru-Ra-Ha, who combines the ideas of Ra-Hoor-Khuit and Hoor-paar-Kraat.”

Liber AL vel Legis: The Book of the Law is the founding text of Thelema. In Ch. II, v. 38 it is declared: “A feast for the three days of the writing of the Book of the Law.” The days of the Book’s reception are here to be celebrated! It is a Thelemic custom to read each chapter on the day it was received, with a celebration at noon.

Anno Viv – Warmest Greetings on the Equinox of the Gods

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

From the Master and Officers of AMeTh Lodge, warmest greetings on the Equinox of the Gods, The Vernal Equinox, the beginning of the Thelemic New Year and Thelemic Holy Season!

Each Thelemic year starts at the instant of the northern-hemisphere Vernal Equinox, coinciding today with the Thelemic holiday called the Feast for the Equinox of the Gods.

The Equinox of the Gods is celebrated on the Vernal Equinox and as the Feast for the Supreme Ritual is always celebrated on March 20, they usually fall no more than two days apart from one another and quite often coincide on the same day, as they do this year. The two share a single line in The Book of the Law, II.40 :

“A feast for the Supreme Ritual, and a feast for the Equinox of the Gods.”

Today, we begin our holiday with a celebration of the Feast for the Supreme Ritual : The Invocation of Horus, taking place at 12.30pm, Anno V:iii : ☉ 29º ♓︎: ☽ 6º ♉︎ prior to the Vernal Equinox, The Equinox of the Gods, and the beginning of the Thelemic New Year at 4.15pm GMT : Anno V:iv : ☉ 0º 0′ ♈︎: ☽ 8º 36′ ♉︎

The Thelemic Holy Season is recognised as the period of twenty-two days falling between the common dates of today, March 20 and April 10, the Third Day of the Writing of the Book of the Law. Thelemites observing this Season variously attribute the Thelemic New Year to March 20, or the First or Third day of the Three Days of the Writing of the Book of the Law. Some have treated this Season as existing outside any “year,” in the conventional sense, or as one long, twenty-two day Thelemic New Year.

Each of the twenty-two days of the Thelemic Holy Season, from March 20 through to April 10, can be attributed to one of the twenty-two letters of the Hebrew alphabet – starting today with The Universe and working back to the The Fool on April 10. You could on each of these days, prominently display the corresponding Tarot Trump and meditate, do appropriate rituals, or other engage in other recollections and recognitions of the principle of the image. Some conduct a twenty-two day pathworking in the appropriate order based on each of the Thoth Tarot Atu on the Tree of Life.

Whatever you do, celebrate with force and fire and most of all, enjoy!
